Welcome from our Principal
Welcome to West Kirby School and College where our teaching, clinical and whole school staff team are enthused by the opportunity to support, help and enable children and young people. Our motto is 'Changing children's lives'.
As a team, we are driven to inspire and motivate pupils, ensuring they are equipped with knowledge, skills and experiences which will help them achieve their goals and ultimately reach their full potential. We understand that each child and young person is different and has individual needs. Therefore we tailor teaching, learning and therapeutic interventions - making activities accessible so pupils can flourish and thrive.

Enterprise Market at West Kirby School and College Our school was filled with creativity and entrepreneurial energy during the WKS Enterprise Market. Pupils worked hard to design, make and sell their own fantastic products, from pasties and bubble teas to candles, plant pots and bracelets. It was a vibrant celebration of imagination, teamwork and practical skills. The market gave our young entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their ideas, build real world experience and most importantly, enjoy learning about business in a fun and meaningful way. Mr Saunders, Our Enterprise Coordinator, shared why this event is so valuable: "Giving pupils the chance to experience risk in a safe environment allows them to understand what it feels like to control both failure and success. That is real learning, and it builds resilience, confidence and independence." The atmosphere was incredible, with plenty of smiles, proud moments and fantastic support from our school community. Thank you to everyone who visited and supported our pupils. Your encouragement means so much. Sweet Success for West Kirby Pupils! We're thrilled to celebrate the winners of The Ice Cream Shop West Kirby , Create-Your-Own Flavour Contest: a fun and delicious challenge just for West Kirby School pupils! Congratulations to Finn, Poppy, and Noah, who wowed the judges with their imaginative ideas and each received a special voucher! A huge shoutout to Poppy, whose winning flavour was chosen to be made and sold in the shop! Her creation now officially known as Poppy Ice Cream is already a big hit with customers. We're so proud of all the pupils who took part your creativity and passion were truly inspiring. A rich, varied, aspirational curriculum
Our curriculum and wide range of qualifications relevant to our pupils' needs, is designed to enable our young people to reach their potential. We provide our pupils with aspirational opportunities, academic and vocational, with over 19 subject choices at GCSE or equivalent.
Our support services are intrinsic to pupils' educational success
We provide a holistic approach to our pupils', integrating education and therapeutic support, to support both learning and our young people's complex special educational needs. Our Support Services include Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Pastoral Care, Reading Support and Home School Liaison.
Our culture of understanding and acceptance
Pupils' differences, individual talents and skills are celebrated and nurtured. We aim to develop our pupils' self-esteem and encourage them to take pride in all their achievements. Our safe and accepting space also allows pupils to express themselves so they feel part of our community.
Wellbeing and mental health
At West Kirby School wellbeing activities are part of our weekly curriculum. Every Friday afternoon is dedicated to wellbeing and our pupils are involved in adventures and activities on and off site.
