International Schools Award achieved

We are so pleased to announce that we have achieved the Foundation level International Schools Award. A big thank you to Mrs Brown who led the award process.

The award focuses on schools starting their international journey by introducing the concept of internationalism through class activities and forming an international partnership with another school.

“This is a strong application for the Foundation level of the International School Award from West Kirby. I am pleased to say it is approved”.

Over the past year we have fostered a partnership link with Geschwister-Scholl-Schule Heidelberg, a school in Germany, and hosted our ‘Eurovision 2024’ event, both of which contributed to our award success.

Key points from the report include:

  • ‘Motivation’ and ‘Summary’ sections of your application are robust.

  • A redesign of the Key Stage 3 languages curriculum made room for cultural events such as ‘The European Day of Languages’ which promote language learning and celebrate linguistic and cultural diversity.

  • Your “Eurovision 2024” submission was a motivating, cross-curricular and well-written international activity.

  • Aims and outcomes for your activity are very good.

  • It is great to see that you now have a partner school in Germany.

We are now set up to make a strong start with our Intermediate level application. We look forward to updating you with our progress.
